For users of the TourCMS tour operator ecommerce platform

I am new to TourCMS.  I am trying to add options for a Tour where the user can select whether they want a single, double, tripple or sharred room accomodation. 

 

1)   I added Accommodation as Option to my Tour product, but didn't see any difference in the Booking form. 

 

2)  I created a Hotel product, but I don't want them to choose dates or hotels. 

 

3)  I've added some custom fields using a link labeled "Add your own custom data collection fields - per customer or per booking" but they do not show up on the Booking form either.  Although, I did add a "per customer" field and it did display. 

 

It seems like option 3 would be the best.  So how do I get custom fields "per booking" to display?  I've set them to Active.  Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong?  

 

What is the difference between ...

Add your own custom data collection fields - per customer or per booking

 

 

 

How do you integrate the tour content fields.  Where can I find the documentation?

Hi Michelle

There are three ways you can add extra fields to a booking

Customer fields - which are customer specific - you can add either just for the lead customer (i.e. just once) or for each customer in a booking

Booking fields - which are booking specific

Options - which you can use to make a selection of items to pick from

Additionally with hotel product you can have different rate types and board basis.... which gives more flexibility!

HOWEVER
- if you are not looking for the customer to select dates (just to take a tour on an itinerary that runs on a specific date) I would suggest you look at tour departures - as they are the easiest for that approach.
- then use options to let the customer indicate their accommodation preferences

To make an option appear on a booking
1) Add it to the tour (on tour setup - options)
2) Ensure the option is on sale for web
3) Ensure the option has some dates & prices loaded for the same date period you are selecting the tour with

The option step will only show as a step between step 1 and step 3 IF there are any options to show. Once you think you have configured your options correctly then start again at step 1 and some will show on step 2.

Incidentally, you can set up options so that they are radio elements - i.e. only one could be selected.

ANOTHER WAY
Another way to do this would be to have a single option called "accommodation preference" (or something shorter!) and then, in a dropdown question / answer (on the option) put the accommodation preferences. This will mean just one option needs to be configured but you can ask the customers what you wish

Lots of ways of solving this - I suggest you email support@tourcms.com with your questions as I don't think from your registration details here we can work out who you are / what your account is - hence my advice above is based on general advice rather than specific for your situation. If anyone reads this in the future then bear in mind this relates to adding accommodation options onto a tour - not an accommodation based booking that has tours/activities added to it....
