For users of the TourCMS tour operator ecommerce platform
Hi Alex / Paul,
Is it possible to search (using API calls) by the options available for the hotels? In other words, we would like to be able to create a page listing all hotels that have a particular option.
I suppose this can be done using the keywords. However, in this case we would have to maintain manually a list of keywords-option names / codes in the hotel descriptions. Right?
Regards,
Evgeny

What do you mean by option? You mean TourCMS option?
There is an interesting thought! Can you give me a real world example rather than a technical explanation.
Thanks. Alex

We offer holiday accommodation “deals”. The deal is for instance a week at a hotel room + bonus (like a spa treatment, free wine, guide books etc.) The bonus can also be a special price/price reduction. In terms of TourCMS this is a “tour/hotel” + an “option”.
At the home page our clients see the “deals”. By clicking the choose hotel link within the deal description they are supposed to get a list of accommodations that can be booked with this deal (i.e. have a particular TourCMS option available). It does not work like that now on our website – but we would like to organize it this way.
I think this is a very simple approach, isn’t it?

One way of realising this would be to make a collection for these offers and link to that collection. One tour/hotel can be in several collections (as much as you want).

How do you mean - link to that collection? As far as I understand, all search possibilities are defined here - http://www.tourcms.com/support/api/mp/tour_search.php (in the Querystring parameters table). There is no functionality for searching by tour collections, as far as I can see. ... or am I wrong?

What shall we do to keep a discussion going? Do you need more information?
Sorry if I am too pushy -

Evgeny

Sorry, was at a travel industry conference Thursday / Friday.
Our key issue is that collections / product filters tend to be single supplier (i.e. your own account). That is fine when the product is on your own website.
However, with the TourCMS Marketplace, you can send the product to 3rd party companies (e.g. partners you may have some control over, or big travel websites that you may not)
Thinking about exposing the category types - in the API - but only on the internal API credentials (sorry, complex idea). I have a feeling this would help. Its on my list to do (like soon) (October)
Keep this conversation going!
Thanks. Alex

I am not sure I understand everything in your last reply :) I hope there will be a plain language explanation when you have a solution, please.
Thanks.
