For users of the TourCMS tour operator ecommerce platform

Alex, I have an urgent need to be able to export all the great customer information we have locked in Tour CMS. The reason is simple; it’s to allow us to work our database with marketing initiatives with mail shots and e-pushes.

In order to complete the above we would need the option may be as a report, exporting the whole database in a CSV file or something, containing all the fields that we have set up under customer’s profiles.

We can then crunch this data in to any sort of listing we then wish for different marketing campaigns.

We are quite desperate for this so any idea on timescale would be appreciated.

Regards

Peter

Hi Peter,
As just sent to you via email..... the new customer extract report should do what you need (in the reports section of TourCMS)

We haven't got the extra fields in yet.... maybe we can do this on Thursday

Please take a look at the new report and give me your thoughts

Thanks. Alex

Hi Alex,

This looks good and as I also requested a little while ago. In terms of giving feedback it pretty much does the job but my email marketing client (constant contact - which I know many small operators use) has seperate fields for Title, First Name and Surname so that emails can be personally addressed so seperate fields for these would be ideal.

I am not sure how it would work but the ability to select different preferences would lso be useful (perhaps based on a collections booked feature) as we send differnet communications to different groups of clients.

Just putting my oar in.

Cheers
Neil

Hi Neil

Yes - we are still working down your list! Google and Paypal are right at the top!

OK - can split name into the separate fields..... as well as addresses.

Re customer segmentation - this is something that we are working on with our next major CRM release.... this will enable you to categorise your customers in lots of exciting ways! However we will leave this data extract pretty much as is (once we have finished tweaking from your feedback)..... and put all the complexity into the other one.

Been working on Google today...... more on that later (in the other thread!)

Thanks. Alex

Magic, splitting addresses is perfect.

As always you are one step ahead of the game.

Hi Neil,

The latest version of the report (now live) has names and addresses split (on the extended version of the report)

For "simple" categorisation..... howabout a "Last booked tour" column.... would that be any use - or do think we should hold back until we have the major customer segmentation system in place before we try anything on this?

Thanks. Alex

Alex I have just found the time to run the report for the first time. Looks ok just that on mine the splitting out of the address fields is losing data.......

To give you a working example, although it’s the same for every record, on our TCMS look up customer "Jaques" in the 1st address field in the report (The cumulate address) everything is correct. But when I go to the end of the report were the address has been split we only get “20” in the address column and nothing in the city column. Is it me?

Looked this customer up and everything is perfect under their customer profile.

Any ideas????

Hi Peter,
Yeah - just checked for you. Data isn't lost - its just "hidden" by Excel. (I expect my Excel works the same way as yours does).

If you put focus onto that cell with "20" - you can see (in the top bar in Excel) that the address is there. If you widen the column the full data magically appears!

I think that explains it.

Alex just a real quickie, still playing with the customer data export.

Is there any chance even if i beg that on the export it also exports any data that TCMS customers like us have set up under "Extra customer data fields" as if you look at our system a very important type of information for marketing is the customer type. e.g in our case the type of angler.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your request. We have added all the extra data fields to the report - and will be released this evening. (Tuesday)
Thanks. Alex
Alex that makes you a star..........
Alex

Look great and works fine, thank you.

One other question I have now added my entire old customer database to the bottom of this data export after checking for duplicates. What I was hopping for was if I e-mailed you the list could you import it behind the scenes so all our customers are then in TCMS and in one place.

Regards

Peter
