I have question

How can I track google conversions using TourCMS and do you think this is an important thing to be able to do?

Hi Martin

You can already track PPC using TourCMS - however I think your question is about putting the specific Google tracking javascript on the confirmation page of an online booking

Hi Neil,

Just to clarify..... this his how you currently can do PPC tracking using TourCMS. Lets imagine you are looking to track a Google campaign

1) Setup an agent record.... ensure that the agent is set that the balance is owed by the lead customer (rather than the agent).... otherwise you may end up sending your invoices to Google.... which isn't a very good idea !

2) In that agent record, go to VIEW URLS.

3) On the View URLSs screen you will see two main data displays
- a list of all your pages on your website (if your website is being managed by TourCMS.... I know yours isn't yet)
- a place where you can put a URL on your existing site.... and generate a redirect URL

3) Put in your homepage URL (or any other page on your website)... .and create a redirect URL

4) Use that URL as your URL you put in your Google adverts

5) When a visitor comes via that link, they will hit the TourCMS servers.... a cookie will be set on that user's machine... and they will be redirected back to your own site (on the page you put in the generate URL tool).

6) If, later, that user makes a booking via your online booking system..... (TourCMS), an agent will automatically be applied to that booking

Advanced uses
If you set up a commission record for your tracking agent...... you could use this as an affiliate marketing system

If you want to track individual keywords... or groups of keywords... you can use Misc. IDs.... these are a mechanism to track within an agent specific individual sources. (For example if you are tracking banner adverts, you could have one Misc. ID per advert)

What Martin started by asking here was how to put the Google code on the confirmation page.... which is a separate question! (And one I am doing this week... was meant to be Sunday but it missed that testing slot).

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I was aware that TourCMS had that functionality. Basically I am after the same thing as Martin.

I spend a great deal of cash on both Google Adwords and YSM, I track this spend through Adwords and Google Analytics and have data going back five years so it is a hugely powerful tool for me. To track conversions I need to put a script between the head tags on the booking confirmation page. I though that this was what you were developing and hence was pleased to hear about it.

If this is not going to be included perhaps it is something we could discuss further.

Yes - that is what we are doing! (This week - was meant to be last Sunday release)

You will still want to use the TourCMS tracking alongside the Google tracking..... so that your bookings are assigned to agents..... The benefit of the google tracking is that it gives you the stats in their system!

Hi Neil,

If you go into website booking engine design page...... you can now add the javascript (from Google) onto that page.

We also have tokens there for either your margin (markup) made on that booking - or the total sale value (either including or excludng local payments) - so that your profitability or revenue can be sent to Google (for incorporation into their stats!)

I have just spoken to Martin (who started this thread) - and they have got it set up now.... so hopefully you guys will come back to me if you find any gremlins etc
