For users of the TourCMS tour operator ecommerce platform
FYI - Simplification of the tour setup (for departures / freesale tabs)
We are thinking of reducing the complexity of the tour setup page - in particular for departures and freesale.
For departures, we would then have
- Min and max per departure (which is, in effect, the trip capacity)
- Min and max per booking (i.e. to ensure group bookings come through staff rather than online)
- A single "quantity" where the "ask first" status would be assumed
This quantity would now work on quotes, provisional and confirmed bookings regardless of payment status for individual bookings.
We have done a quick audit of the existing data (from trading accounts) that everyone has and we can't see any major problems with making this improvement. Hopefully, as a result of this change, it will be easier for people to understand how to configure this functionality straight away (without having to read the manual on this aspect).

Sounds fine to me - we don't use the full complexity of the current 6 'ask first' options much anyway.
One should be enough I think, if it covers all quotations, provisionals and confirmed numbers on the departure at that time.

Sounds fine to me, I also think it would be very useful on the tour overview plate to have the maximum quantity for that tour and next to it the current total of participants giving a third figure of places available left I hope this doesn't sound incongrous but I couldn't see on the current table overview this simple at- a- glance status for a tour. Perhaps I've missed something though as I'm a newby.
